Rich has taught improv and acting to children, teens, and adults at theaters in New York, regionally, and internationally as well as at New School University and The Pelham Film Center. He's currently the resident director and drama instructor at the Buckley School where he's directed or co-directed over 100 plays and musicals since 2015.
Rich has also consulted and taught at numerous institutions and corporations including NYU, Con Edison, and the branding firm ClarkMcdowall. The foci of the workshops consist of using improv technique to foster creativity, collaboration, and communication in groups. Rich has also taught several leadership workshops at West Point Military Academy.
In 2017 Rich was invited to give a TEDx talk on improv technique and how, beyond just the creation of spontaneous comedy, it can engender compassion and empathy by systematically helping individuals and groups not only overcome a deeply ingrained sense of risk aversion, but to see moments of vulnerability as opportunities.
