Rich is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, trumpet, shofar, keyboards, piano, bass, light percussion) and singer (tenor). Over the years, Rich has composed music for various theater projects, improv teams, podcasts, and other clients like the educational toy company, Thinkativity. He's seen here playing a gig on the roof of Riverside Church.
Rich also wrote original songs for the film, Songs for a Sloth, which he also starred in, co-wrote, and co-produced. The film is currently being distributed by Gravitas Ventures.
Rich composed and performed underscoring for Playhouse on Park's production of Mary Zimmerman's, Metamorphoses. Broadwayworld wrote, "Atmospheric music is composed and performed alternately on guitar, drums and trumpet by the talented Richard Hollman." Subsequently, Rich won several awards for humility.
In 2022, Rich released an album consisting of gratitude songs for supporters of Songs for a Sloth. Recipients chose topics and genres for their songs and Rich did his best to fulfill their requests. Rich recorded the album in an ad hoc recording studio (a closet) and played all the instruments heard on the album and performed all the vocals. You can listen to the album here:
